From Haydn To Hétu

The cycle of Haydn’s London symphonies begun by the Orchestre Métropolitain last season continues with a concert directed by Mario Bernardi. The Canadian conductor of Italian origin is among the leading specialists of his generation for the Mozart and Haydn style. The twelve London symphonies bring the curtain down on a prolific musical career for the composer they called “the father of the symphony.” Concertgoers will also discover the exquisite Concerto for viola by one of our greatest composers, Jacques Hétu. The Montreal premiere of the work will be performed by its dedicatee, the excellent Canadian violist Nicolò Eugelmi.
