The Discography of the OM

In February 2003, Yannick Nézet-Séguin launched his first CD recording as conductor of the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, an album entitled Nino Rota: La Strada. This début album with the orchestra earned the Opus Prize for Recording of the Year in January 2004, also coinciding with the launch of a second album: Symphony No. 4 by Gustav Mahler, which he also recorded with the Métropolitain; the recording was acclaimed in the record reviews Diapason and Classics Today, which awarded it their highest mark, and earned the Opus Award for Recording of the Year and for Best Record Production of the Year while Yannick Nézet-Séguin received the Opus Award for Best Interpreter of the Year 2004. In the Spring of 2005, Kurt Weill, recorded by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Métropolitain and singer Diane Dufresne, was released. In October 2005, this CD won the Félix Prize awarded by ADISQ for Best classical recording, Orchestra and large ensemble. In February 2006, Atma launched the CD Camille Saint-Saëns: Symphonie no 3, recorded at St. Joseph’s Oratory and featuring the Oratory’s principal organist, Philippe Bélanger with the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin; in October 2006, the record won the Félix Prize awarded by ADISQ for Best classical recording, Orchestra and large ensemble.
