Concerts > Past Seasons > 2006-07 SeasonDear Music Lovers and Friends,It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to our 2006-07 season and to inaugurate the Orchestre Métropolitain’s second quarter century! This is the season to discover the new and the unexpected and to re-discover the great classics so dear to all of us. This year, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Smetana, Bruckner and Debussy share the stage with Poulenc, Doolittle, Bartók, and Stravinski. We will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Conseil des arts de Montréal and pay homage to Pierre Mercure, one of the country’s greatest composers, who died prematurely in 1966. Finally, the season’s crowning performance: Mahler’s symphony, sure to move us all. Our choristers, musicians, and I are impatient to greet you once again this year, to experience the joy of music!
